Education is one of the fundamental activities of Cro.M.A.’s work and actions. Our concept of education is inspired by Cesare Zavattini, one of the first theorists of the Neorealist movement in Italian cinema, that taught us that cinema and audiovisual media are powerful instruments for civil criticism and consciousness. Through our audiovisual training courses, we aim to spread knowledge of image production techniques mostly between youngsters in order to raise awareness and promote personal and collective development.

Di Liegro

Di Liegro audiovisual training workshop took place in 2015 at Don Luigi Di Liegro Foundation in Rome with people affected by various physical difficulties and lasted for 6 months. The workshop’s principal aim  was to provide participants with the basic audiovisual techniques to produce their own short videos. The results showed how the use of such techniques promote socialisation and human development through documentary filmmaking.

Socrate intensive training workshop took place in 2015 at Socrate high school in Rome with the aim of producing a short film on the historical neighbourhood of Garbatella. Six youngsters of the school have been selected to involve other people of the neighbourhood to tell the story of an historical building that is going to be renewed to become a public library. Through the story of the building they can recount the past the historical neighbourhood of Garbatella, thanks to the footage preserved by Aamod (link archive. The short documentary has been screened during the Aperossa Festival.
